Rare Cowardly Liom string holders from 1950s in mint condition.
This wonderful vintage "Cowardly Lion" string holder from the Wizard of Oz is 7" high and is made of chalk. It is from the 1950s. It is incised with "Copyright MGM 390x". It is in very good condition - having no chips or cracks with only minor crazing due to age. All of its paint is original. This is one of four in a series that originally sold for $5.00 a set. It listed in the 2007 "Schroeder's Antiques Price Guide" on page 521 for $395.00.

Rare Oz string holders from 1950s in mint condition.
Set of 6, typically measuring between 5.5x7” to 5.5x8”. c. 1950s. Each string holder has ©MGM incised text along with numbers “3901-3906” in edges. High relief painted plaster with holes in mouth with string. Recessed backs have original metal hangers at top. Very highly detailed depictions including simulated tarnish to Tin Man’s face and hat. A superb complete set. Each of the 4 main characters are listed for $395.00 in the 2007 edition of Schroeder’s Antique Price Guide.

Since this is a complete set of 6 and two of them Glinda and Wicked Witch ( selling for over $1000 each) are very rare. I estimate a valu of a whole set of 6 at $5,,000.
