One of the first books by Ruth Thompson from 1918. She first started to with Oz series in 1921.
Ruth Plumly Thompson (famed author of the Oz book series after the death of L. Frank Baum): The Perhappsy Chaps. Profusely illustrated in both full color and black-and-white, by Arthur Henderson. Publisher, P.F. Volland Company. Copyright 1918. Cover is paper-covered boards, illustrated in color on front and back. Endpapers illustrated in color. 1st and only Edition. Rare in this condition, especially with slipcase ( restored).
Condition of book is Very Good+. Cover shows only minor wear. Colors in cover illustrations are beautiful and bright. Spine has a couple of horizontal splits in the paper covering but is completely intact, which is especially unusual for this vintage title. Binding is tight, hinges are tight. Endpapers are age-darkened. No handwriting in book, and no coloring. Tiny old bookseller's sticker on front fixed endpaper, which could be easily removed. No torn pages. Pages are near-immaculate. Final text page, which is an advertisement for Volland books, is lightly foxed. No mildew or other odor. Very very nice book with absolutely charming illustrations-- one of the most difficult-to-find Thompson titles and an important acquisition for collectors of Oziana.
