First printing with cover lettered in white. Frontispiece by Joseph Pierre Nuyttens. Volume shows little wear but for bumped spine ends. Internally very good.

Phoebe Daring, Baum, L. Frank, 1912 1st edition 1st printing, Gray cloth, stamped in peach, orange, gray, and black; four inserted black & white plates by Joseph Pierre Nuyttens. Volume measures 1-5/16 inches thick; other copies measure only 1-3/16 inches thick; but one marked "FILE COPY", which may indicate precedence, matches the present copy. The upper cover illustration, enclosed in a narrow black border, depicts a girl sitting at a table and drawing on a piece of paper. Verso of half title is lettered in ink with juvenile lettering "THIS BOOK Belongs To | Justin Schiller" , Volume shows moderate wear with some soiling and a light wrinkle to surface of front cover; corners bumped and exposed, spine ends beginning to tatter; spine imprint somewhat faded. Still a very presentable copy. Book store sticker to front pastedown; ownership stamp to FFEP; front hinge repaired.
